Raisin Kindness brings Lemonade & Baked Goods to the Governor Mifflin High School Yard Sale on Saturday Morning (7/30)

Colton from Mohnton was invited to bring his Raisin Kindness mission to the Governor Mifflin High School Yard Sale this Saturday (7/30) from 7am-1pm. Colton is so excited to share his mission with the crowd in hopes to raise another $1000! He is working hard to raise enough to be able to fill Snack Bins for all 55 teachers before school starts on August 22nd!

There are about 50 Families setting up awesome yard sale tables, and Colton who will be there spreading smiles and kindness through Lemonade, Waters, Baked Goods from Lally’s Cakes & Sweets, and a fun game for all!

Colton will also bring his Raisin Guy coloring pages for the kid shoppers as well as his favorite Sun-Maid Sour Raisins! If you haven’t tried these yet - now is your chance!

Colton was honored to collaborate with a 10-Year old student from Elkton, MD who started her own Kindness Project “Littlest Lady Cares”. Colton will have a few of her Kindness Hearts to spread around the GM High School Yard Sale to add a sense of fun & kindness & surprise to all of the awesome families who attend!

Come out tomorrow (Saturday July 30th) and support the GM High School PTO AND Raisin Kindness! Please park on the side streets when you come to shop (not in the parking lot where families are set up). We will be there 7am - 1pm!

*Rain Date July 31st.

More about Raisin Kindness:

Who started Raisin Kindness?  7 Year Old Colton Brady, our local Sun-Maid Raisin National Contest Winner (Brecknock Elementary Student)

What is Raisin Kindness?  A mission to provide each of the teachers at Cumru, Mifflin Park, and Brecknock Elementary Schools as well as Immanuel Preschool with a bin of snacks AND kindness cards/stickers to use throughout the school year to surprise students who need an extra smile to survive a tough day.  The ultimate mission is to spread kindness between students.

When will Raisin Kindness launch?  Our goal is to have the snack bins to the teachers on August 17th or 18th in time for the first day of school on August 22nd.

Why is this mission important?  Currently teachers spend a lot of their own money on supplies for their students, including snacks.   Likewise, our district has a lot of families who are financially below the poverty line meaning some families can’t afford snacks for school.  Hungry kids struggle to focus on learning.  So this is a small step to help both teachers, families, and most of all our local young students!

How can you help?    Donate any amount of money!   We have connections with Sun-Maid Raisins as well as Unique Pretzels to buy fresh snacks at wholesale/distributor levels to maximize our reach and impact.

 3 Digital Giving Options:

1. Venmo @HeatherBrady95  (Last 4 digits of phone: 3299). Mark “Raisin Kindness Donation” in the notes.

2. Go Fund Me “Raisin Kindness at Governor Mifflin with Snacks”

3. Online Donation through our Church, Immanuel UCC of Shillington (select the second giving option Sun-Maid Raisin Fundraiser).

More Facts about the Raisin Kindness Mission:

·        It cost $130 to fill each Teacher Bin with snacks and kindness cards for the start of the school year.

·        There are 55 Teacher Bins that we need to fill

·        So our first fundraising Goal is $7150  to launch the program!

·        As of 7/28 we already raised: $2370

·       So we need an additional $4780 before August 17th!

"During school, sometimes all you need is a little snack to turn your day around - or a kind message to make you smile. So I want to spread smiles and kindness through delicious snacks to all our GM Elementary students!" - Colton.
