A Heartfelt Thank You: Celebrating 5 Years of Family Meal PopUps

WFMZ – Tom Rader interviewed young Colton Brady in May 2023, spotlighting how a Meal PopUp fundraiser raised over $1,000 for his teacher battling cancer—a shining example of our community's heart!
Dear Berks County Community,
You may have spotted one of our cheerful yard signs in a neighbor’s yard, at a local business, church, school, or friend’s home? That was the signal—a Family Meal PopUp was on the way! Launched in 2020 amid the challenges of COVID, the Family Meal PopUp project was born to support our beloved local restaurants.
We created an easy online platform where families could order delicious meals for “drive-through” pickup in a quick 15-minute window at convenient locations. Like a dine-and-donate, a generous percentage of every order went directly back to the host organization. It was fast, fun, and truly tasty!
Families loved the break from cooking while backing locally owned eateries with hassle-free curbside service—right in their neighborhoods, schools, sports fields, churches, or offices.
What started as a lifeline grew into a beloved tradition, running successfully for five incredible years. We even launched MealPopUp.com, a dedicated calendar showcasing upcoming events. Though the site closed on December 31, 2025, marking the end of this chapter, the impact endures.
We’re immensely proud to have raised over $50,000 for local organizations while helping restaurants weather the storm of shutdowns. It was a true win-win-win: supporting businesses, feeding families, and funding meaningful causes. None of this would have been possible without YOU—our extraordinary community of supporters, hosts, restaurants, and families. Your enthusiasm, participation, and generosity turned a simple idea into a five-year success story.
From the bottom of our hearts, thank you for making it all happen. As we pause the public program in 2026, we encourage everyone to rally around in-person dine-and-donates—gathering for meals and laughter strengthens the bonds that make Berks so special.
Good news! Do It Local is still offering Employer-Paid Meal PopUps for local companies. When an employer covers the meals upfront, it’s a thoughtful way to treat employees, clients, or volunteers to a delicious take-home dinner—picked up in a quick 15-minute window at your location. Over the years, Gage Personnel and MCAM in Berks County have delighted their teams with this as holiday gifts, Employee Appreciation surprises in April, or thank-yous after busy seasons.
If you’re interested in customizing an Employer-Paid Meal PopUp for your team, fill out the form below or email Heather Brady at heather@doitlocalberks.com—we’d love to help!
Rest assured, exciting new projects are on the horizon to keep raising funds and bringing us together! Wishing you a joyful, safe, and healthy 2026.
With deepest gratitude,
~ The Do It Local Meal PopUp Team
