Alvernia Fall Basketball League Wraps Up with Smiles, Growth, and New Friendships
By Do It Local Berks | October 24th, 2025
READING, PA – The inaugural Sunday-night Fall League is officially in the books, and the final score is pure joy for hundreds of Berks County’s young ballers. From September’s opening tip to this weekend’s final buzzer, the Alvernia University courts buzzed with energy, effort, and excitement every Sunday night. Kids sharpened skills, built team chemistry, and created friendships that crossed school district lines. Exeter and Governor Mifflin players who normally battle in the winter spent the fall laughing together and swapping Snapchat handles – proof that basketball truly unites.
“It’s awesome watching these kids grow together,” said Alvernia Men’s Basketball Head Coach Mike Miller. “Our guys love mentoring them, and you can see the confidence carry over when they head back to their school teams.”None of this would have been possible without an incredible team effort and the generous sponsors who stepped up in a huge way to make the league affordable, top-notch, and unforgettable. A standing ovation goes to our league sponsors:
Lee Myles Auto Care & Transmissions – the driving force behind the league, keeping everything running smoothly on and off the court.
Riverfront Federal Credit Union – banking on our kids’ futures with generous support.
C the Light Foundation– supporting the youth sports community with programs like the CShed.
Martarano Engineering, Inc. (MEI ) – fueling the fun and helping us go the extra mile.
Mimmo’s Restaurant – powering players with the fuel they need to shine.
Do It Local - Do It Local Berks – signage, logoed items, and collaboration headquarters! Need your logo on things? Need sponsors? Do It Local Berks has you covered!
And every team sponsor who believed in these kids and made Sunday nights possible. Katie Broskey Realtor, EZ Care Pools, and Darren Kostival of ReMax - YOU ROCK!
The 5th Grade Division Champions, Wilson Dawgs!
The Alvernia Men’s Basketball team refereed, coached, and high-fived like the big brothers every young player needed.
“Seeing kids from different towns become real friends is the best part,” a league parent shared. “They leave here better players and better people.”As the gym lights dim on another fall season, we wish every athlete a safe, fun, and growth-filled winter with their school teams. Keep that love for the game burning bright.
A massive THANK YOU to our sponsors — because of you, Sunday nights at Alvernia were nothing short of magical. See you bigger and better in 2026!
